A Changing Market

TACC Members will be well aware that the dynamics of the State Electricity Market are changing.

While businesses with larger electricity load requirements may already have been confronted with an option to select a retailer, other smaller users are yet to come on board with that option. This is expected sometime around mid 2010.

At this stage, the number of retailers is limited to a few and includes the incumbent, Aurora Energy.

Further information regarding the opening up to competition of the Tasmanian Electricity Market can be found at:

Market 'Noise'

Members may notice increased noise about the changing market. Approaches from consultants, requests to attend information briefings and other marketing activity is all part of the new Tasmanian Electricity Landscape.

In the interests of Member confidence, TACC will keep its members updated.

TACC Electricity Buying Group

What is it?

The TACC Electricity Buying Group is a group of those members who are interested to secure a better electricity deal. Better can mean, pricing, contract terms and conditions and confidence knowing their electricity needs are negotiated, secured and managed on their behalf. For the sake of a very small Commission Fee, members needs are managed collectively. That small fee will enable this to be done with the necessary guidance and expertise.

TACC will engage the services of Independent Utility Services, (IUS), for this purpose. IUS has been assisting VACC members in Victoria with this for close to 10 years.

All TACC Members are eligible and have the option to participate.

The guiding principle of this Buying Group is to attempt to secure a 'better deal' for a collective number of Members. This has been achieved by VACC Members in Victoria over the past 10 years.

Indicative Timings - what you can expect

We would like to receive members bills well in time for the mid-year opening of the market. We need to do this as it is necessary to ascertain the total electricity 'load' requirement of the Group of members. Being early and prepared will also place the Buying Group in the best possible position to negotiate with retailers.

So fax your bill and Registration of Interest form today to (03) 6228 7387 . Why potentially 'miss out'?
