TACC members need to be aware of changes to award structures, effective Jan 1st.

There will be an Apprentice Kickstart Bonus offered to employers of new apprentices aged 19 and under from  December 1 2009 until February 28 2010. The incentive is designed to counteract the impact of the global recession on commencements and retention of young people in traditional trade Australian Apprenticeships

Congratulations to all the TACC Castrol Motor Industry Award winners. The 2009 presentation ceremony, at Wrest Point, Hobart on Saturday night was a hugely enjoyable occasion and a celebration of the commitment and dedication shown by those involved with the Automotive Industry of Tasmania. Peter Murphy, Southern Cross Nightly News weatherman, was Master of Ceremonies, and introduced TACC Chairman, Rodney Howell and guest speaker, Dr Giovanni Pagano, an entertaining automobile futurist. The after-dinner music was provided by DJ Gasket.

Chair of the Australian Environment Foundation, Jennifer Marohasy, today welcomed new research by Australian physicist, Dr Tom Quirk, suggesting natural environmental forces, more than just fossil fuel emissions, could be contributing to the elevated levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide [CO2].
