TACC Auto Apprenticeships Group Scheme is the largest industry specific Group Scheme in Tasmania. Since commencing in 1999, the number of group scheme apprentices has grown each year, to currently in excess of 80 hosted to various member and non-member workshops throughout Tasmania.
TAAC Auto Apprentices are selected through a selective interview and assessment process. Apprentices are required to meet the following criteria ;
- Applicant must have year 10 passes
- Sit for a pre-selection test
- Undergo an interview
- Complete a medical assessment
Once employed by TACC, each apprentice is given induction training, supplied with a comprehensive tool kit and assigned to a TACC members workshop (or non-member if applicable), who then becomes the HOST EMPLOYER.
TACC Group Scheme Area Manager
For the duration of their placement with the host employer, apprentices are closely monitored by Nigel Fox, the TACC Group Scheme Area Manager, who conducts regular visits. The purpose of these visits is to assess the progress of the apprentice at work and while being trained by Skills Tasmania, to discipline or provide counselling or mediation if needed, and to deal with any arising issues.
Invoicing
Host employers are invoiced weekly by TACC and pay only for the time the apprentice spends AT WORK in the workshop. TACC pays when the apprentice is sick, on holidays or other leave, or attending training.
TACC takes care of all administration including wages, superannuation, worker's compensation and leave calculations.
